Four Acres Charitable Trust held a public presentation in Cottier’s Restaurant on 9th June 2008 in order to consult with the local community about proposals to complete a terrace on Highburgh Road begun by architect Peter McGregor Chalmers in 1898 but never completed and related proposals to build a war memorial on the corner of Highburgh Road and Hyndland Road.
The Trust obtained planning permission for the scheme in 2009. Details of the scheme are contained in a planning report that seeks to address the planning, conservation area and listed building issues raised by the development proposals. It takes account of advice provided by PAN 81 Community Engagement.
One of the main aims of this project is to secure additional funds for the Cottier Theatre.
